NC-NASW Certificate in Clinical Supervision

LCSW Supervision Wilmington NC

I am a LCSW with a PhD in Social Work and over 20 years of experience in clinical practice and LCSW supervision. My background in university teaching, field supervision, and clinical practice provide the foundation upon which I draw in providing LCSW supervision. As a supervisor, I see myself as mentor, coach, and role model. I follow an educational and developmental strength-based model of supervision to cultivate a relationship that promotes growth and learning.

About Supervision

In our supervision, we will link social work theory, knowledge, and skills with the case example that supervisees bring to our session. Supervision sessions typically involve case consultation, practice observation, and a review of documentation. I assist supervisees to hone their skills in assessment, differential diagnosis, creating treatment plans, and interventions with their client. This includes working on solutions for complex cases.

I help my supervisees identify their areas of expertise and realize what they feel passionate about. Focus of supervision will include finding and developing their personal niche as a social worker. We will also work on developing your own clinical style.

Clinical practice can be demanding and challenging. Therefor, self-care and work-life balance play an important role. As part of supervision, we will look at self-care strategies and ways to prevent burn-out.

The requirements for LCSW licensure are complex and can feel overwhelming. I help my supervisees navigate the legal, ethical, and administrative requirements to obtain their LCSW licensure.

Supervision means stretching yourself to master new skills, self-reflecting on your work with clients, and finding new perspectives to your practice. Ultimately, a good supervision experience is one that promotes the supervisee's strengths and individual gifts, and fosters making a difference in their clients' lives.
